Vino and Vinyl

One can get decent wine for $3.00 and few people buy CDs let alone Vinyl, but here someone has created a multi-media business to cater to those that need a hip, or some would say pretentious place. They have wine, music and art. I hope they succeed.

Raceway gas station - Again

I was at Raceway again, filling the car. I set the auto-release catch so I do have to continually hold the nozzle.

All of a sudden the tank was full and gas was still pumping, overflowing onto the ground.  I grabbed nozzle quick and released the catch.

I went to the building to report the pump was malfunctioning. I explain the issue to the person on duty. She said, "We had a problem with people overfilling their tanks so we disabled the auto-stop [mechanism], so people have to hold the nozzles."

I explained, "Whether one is holding the nozzle or not, the pump has to sense when the tank is full and stop the flow. One cannot see the level, one relies on the pump to stop the gas flowing." I continued, "If all nozzles work this way you need to post a warning of the issue."

She murmured something about idiots.  I left.

I expect this was just one malfunctioning nozzle, where her story came from I have no idea.

Illegal immigrants in open view

There are really only 3 types of bicycle riders in Texas, the serious weekend adults that have expensive bicycles, children, and illegal immigrants.

It is very easy to recognize illegal immigrants. They are slim, small, and ride basic cheap bicycles. Cars are expensive, need legal paperwork, and have to display a dated tag in the front window that is linked to an annual inspection, proof of insurance, and an annual fee. Bicycles are much less trouble; under the radar.

A country store stuck in the past

I have passed this place many times and thought it closed and abandoned. But this time I stopped and found the door open, and someone inside.

Somehow the lights are on, the gas pumps may work, but the store is stuck in a time warp.
