Red White and Blues

The White House, 2012 Feb 21.

This is the way to live, have a blues gig at you own house, BB King, Buddy Guy, Jeff Beck and Mick Jagger.  They should have covered up the old pictures tho'

And Jagger and I come from the same village; our lives diverged early on.....

Living in the middle of nowhere

I went to a party Saturday night, near New Ulm.  The turnoff was a gravel road north of 1094, and it ended 2.5 km later in a pretty spot under trees and near a creek.  I cannot image driving over gravel roads to get to and from home, or being so isolated.  But the sky was bright and clear and you can see the Milky Way, far from the city lights.  And here are mammals; Deer, Coyotes, Armadillos, and Opossums, nocturnal creatures.
Scrabble, a game of skill and luck.  I played Mike Doan yesterday, and it was down to the last tile. Mike Scrabbled with UNLOVED and there was one tile left in the bag!  If there were no tiles left he would have won, as I had 7 tiles in my rack including a Z.

The last tile was J, 8 points, and nowhere to play.  Mike was unloved.

So Michael's theory of winning:

Play the highest scoring word, with as many letters as possible.  But, don't expose a vowel next to a triple tile.  Try to balance the words in your rack, like too many I's and R's.  Save an S or a blank if it adds little to the score.  Know the 2-letter words, as playing parallel words often gives the highest score.  At the end try and go out first, it is valuable.  Know how many tiles left, have letters that help spell a word, even if they do not score much.
